Who should host a baby shower?
Tradition states that a shower should not be hosted by a close family member of the parents-to-be, but instead by a friend or more distant relative, such as a cousin or an aunt.
This rule was meant to avoid the appearance that the family was simply on a mission to collect gifts.
Do you arrange your own baby shower?
If you don’t have anyone close to you that can or will throw your baby shower for you, you can always throw your own. It’s a little against tradition, but no one is stopping you. Some circumstances you might find yourself in if you have to throw your own baby shower: You don’t have any female family members.
