How long does it take to deliver a baby?
If you’re a first-time mum, active labour may take about eight hours. This is an average, though, and it could be much shorter or longer than that. It’s unlikely to last more than 18 hours. Once your cervix has dilated to 10cm, it could take you an hour or two hours of pushing before your baby is born.
Which week is best for delivery?
If your pregnancy is healthy, it’s best to stay pregnant for at least 39 weeks. Wait for labor to begin on its own. Scheduling means you and your provider decide when to have your baby by labor induction or cesarean birth.
How many months does it take to deliver a baby?
Even though all pregnant women are given a due date or estimated date of delivery (EDD), only about one in 25 babies are born on their exact due date. Most babies arrive between 37 weeks and 41 weeks of pregnancy, usually within a week either side of their due date.
